OUR PLACE OF WORSHIP

Our Environment for Worship

It is usually visitors to our Parish who make very positive comments on the atmosphere in our Church....'it's lovely', 'it's clean and tidy', 'it's welcoming', 'it's warm, (in winter and sometimes in summer!), 'it's bright and colourful'.
It may be that those who attend regularly take all these things for granted.
BUT it could be different were it not for those who come to the Church on Monday mornings all through the year to look after our environment for worship.
First of all we need to express our appreciation for this dedication.
BUT THE TEAM NEED MORE PEOPLE TO GET INVOLVED!
Could YOU offer some time on Mondays on a fairly regular basis from 09h45 for about 1 hour to help clean our Church? If you can help please simply turn up on a Monday morning or contact Margaret Murray.

Health & Safety in Church

The emergency lighting system for our Church is now installed.
If there is a power failure the emergency lighting will automatically function.

SAFETY AUDIT

  • Can you identify the areas of this new instillation?
  • Are you aware of the positions of Fire Exits in our Church?
  • Are you aware of the position of Fire Extinguishers in Church and Parish Centre?
  • Do you know where the First Aid Kits are located in our Church and Parish Centre?
Awareness can always be a source of help in a possible emergency. Don't leave this 'awareness' to others.
Make yourself aware for the sake of others!

Illustrated Manuscript

On the wall in the Narthex you will see a beautiful illustrated manuscript about the life and history of our patron, St William of York. This manuscript was presented to us by Tony Costello for our Centenary last year.
Tony lived in the Parish for over 40 years and now lives in Birmingham.
He shared much of his talents with the Art Group for many years. The manuscript will be a permanent fixture in the Narthex.

Children's Book Box

Parents who bring their young children to Mass are welcome to borrow books for 'use' during Mass on Sundays.
We hope that this will help to 'engage' your child during Mass. Please return the books to the box after Mass so that they are available for others to share.

Prayer

In your prayers - as a general daily intention:

Pray for those in our community who are unwell, confined to home and feeling lonely.

Pray also for some who feel unwelcome in our Parish or feel unable to worship with us for whatever reason. Pray for those who are dealing with inner turmoil that they feel unable to talk about.

We ALL need the support of one another and we can ALL reach out in prayer. Let's remember the needs of others besides our OWN needs.

Positive Count

Count your blessings
instead of your crosses
Count your gains
instead of your losses...
Count your joys
instead of your woes...
Count your friends
instead of your foes...
Count your courage
instead of your fears...
Count your laughs
instead of your tears...
Count your full years
instead of your lean...
Count your kind deeds
instead of your mean...
Count your health
instead of your wealth...
Count on God
instead of yourself.

Diocesan Prayer

Towards a Vision

God our Loving Father,
pour out on us afresh
the gifts of your Holy Spirit.
Open our ears to hear your Word,
open our eyes to see your presence,
open our minds
to understand your wisdom
and open our hearts
to be more available for your mission
so that strengthened by your grace
we can truly be a sign and instrument of your presence in our world today.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
